Convention Center Tips
aguidetoanaheim can help make your next convention trip to Anaheim and the beautiful all new Anaheim Convention Center less expensive and hassle free.
Our experts offer great advice on how to save money on Anaheim convention hotels and eliminate common problems and mistakes conventioneers make while visiting the Anaheim Resort area. This expert advice has been compiled from trustworthy travelers and local industry professionals who frequently travel to Anaheim or work at local Anaheim hotels. These aguidetoanaheim experts know how to move about, save big bucks on hotel reservations, and avoid common pitfalls when the city is jam-packed.
Here is some great advice to help you make the most of your stay:
Book Discount Hotels Near the Convention Center – aguidetoanaheim suggests that you look for Anaheim area hotels that offer special discounts and privileges to attendees of conventions. Some of these hotels may not be on the official list given to you as preferred hotels with preferred rates. The Anaheim area boasts over 100 hotels to choose from with many only a short distance from the Convention Center. Some Anaheim hotels may actually raise rates during convention dates due to guaranteed higher occupancies, so be careful and shop around. Don't let supply VS. demand get you in the pocket book. For instance - in Las Vegas, a room that goes for $ 29.00 during the summer can swell to over $ 200.00 over the same dates when a convention comes to town. The good news is... if you look around and research the situation you can save money by doing some homework. Be sure that the hotel you choose offers the amenities you want especially when it comes to transportation, breakfast, and of course rates! Check availability and special rates at aguidetoanaheim's preferred hotels for the best prices and location with regards to the Anaheim Convention Center.
Actual Hotel Location - Know which aguidetoanaheim hotels are nearest to the Convention Center and within walking distance. You can use our aguidetoanaheim map section to get exact locations and distances to and from your desired location. Some hotel information may list hotels closer to the Convention Center than they actually are. How far is a block anyway? Investigate to avoid frustration later.
Save on Occupancy Tax – aguidetoanaheim is also pleased to list hotels that are located in nearby Garden Grove. Garden Grove borders Anaheim and actually has the most brand new hotels since the makeover of the area. More important than that, is the difference of 5% in actual occupancy tax between Anaheim and Garden Grove. This means that a room for $ 150 per night plus tax in both cities is actually $ 172.50 per night in Anaheim and only $ 165.00 per night in Garden Grove. Click here to check the complete aguidetoanaheim partner hotels for rates and availability in both cities!
Airport Transportation – Upon arrival at either LAX, Orange County, or Ontario airports transportation to Anaheim is abundant, although varied. Cost differences can be huge depending upon which method you use, so be careful. The least expensive way to get to Anaheim from any of the airports is Airport Bus. This service is popular but also takes a little longer than other more expensive methods. So if every cent counts, Airport Bus is the ticket. Another method, which costs a little more but is less populated is Super Shuttle. Each van goes directly from the Airport to Anaheim area hotels with no more than three stops in route. You can make reservations in advance or just walk up and catch a ride with one of the blue vans. But make sure it is going to Anaheim! The price is the same either way. Convention Transportation - For those of you who want the freedom of having transportation on your own timetable, then aguidetoanaheim recommends renting a car. Nothing beats having your own vehicle to go where you want, when you want. For easiest access to Convention Center parking, use the Katella Avenue entrance! Daily parking fees are $ 8.00. Don’t Over Look Public
Transportation - The Anaheim Resort’s newest attraction to hit the streets is the Anaheim Resort Transit or (ART). This service offers Anaheim visitors quick and convenient shuttle service between hotels and the resort area's world-class tourist attractions and convention facilities. The ART system provides easy connections between hotels, shopping, dining, evening entertainment, the Anaheim Convention Center, Disneyland, Disney's California Adventure, and Downtown Disney. The trolley buses feature a bold resort-themed look, with palm fronds scattered against a red background and offers a convenient, economical way to take advantage of all that Anaheim has to offer.
Save Time at Lunch – If you are planning to go to lunch off site at one of the many fabulous restaurants in Anaheim during your lunch break then remember time is of the essence. Most will want to go to Downtown Disney to grab a quick bite. But the word “quick” may not be the term that comes to mind when trying to eat at any of these restaurants. Lunchtime is one of the busiest times at Downtown Disney with theme park visitors, locals on lunch hours and fellow conventioneers all vying for access. The wait times for these restaurants can be in excess of one hour. So be smart. Check out aguidetoanaheim's List of Restaurants for a complete look at what's available in Anaheim and the surrounding area. You can always go and experience Downtown Disney after your meetings.
Arrive a Day or Two Early – If your schedule permits then take advantage of an early arrival. By arriving a day or two earlier than the normal attendee you’ll give yourself valuable extra time to get acclimated to your new surroundings. Your trip will instantly become less stressful and more enjoyable. And with the extra time you can give yourself an opportuinity to explore all the new sites and attractions at your own pace.
