What Does the Future Hold... aguidetoanaheim Knows!
aguidetoanaheim is always eager to bring you the newest and latest when it comes to the Anaheim area. With all of the newly completed tourist attractions already a reality it is hard to believe that there are even more proposed ideas waiting to become realized.
Here’s to the future!
Disney’s 3rd Gate
Another Disney park in Anaheim? Will it be Pooh's "100-Acre Wood"? Or possibly Ariel and Sebastian’s new undersea home? Or something completely different? With the recent improvements to the Anaheim Resort and Disneyland Resort Area the possibility of a third Disney park is not just speculation but a confirmed reality. Disney is working with the City of Anaheim to begin the planning and design process.
With Disney's California Adventure a successful reality, Walt Disney Imagineering, the creative development and design unit of The Walt Disney Company, is planning for the future - to be realized south of Katella and east of Harbor.
The proposed project would complement Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure, possibly including a theme park or a water park, along with integrated retail, dining and entertainment experiences. The first phase is anticipated for 2003 with completion targeted for 2010.
Gotcha Glacier
Imagine, indoor extreme fun all year round. Perfect snow and waves every day of the year is almost here. Gotcha Glacier, the $ 130 million, 600,000 square foot indoor snowboard and surf park has partnered with some major companies including Active Ride Shop, Bally’s Total Fitness, Sport Chalet, and UCI Medical Center to turn this awesome dream into reality. Gotcha Glacier is scheduled to open in mid-2002.
Pointe Anaheim
This proposed project to be built on 30 acres of prime Anaheim real estate is scheduled to include four hotels, a 580,000 square foot retail complex including retail shopping, entertainment, and dining for the whole family. The plan is also set to include a 100,000 square foot conference center and a parking structure that will hold 5,000 cars. This huge development is proposed for the Anaheim area and will be similar to other Pointe projects like the Pointe Orlando. Construction of the first phase is set to be completed by Spring 2004. More details to follow as they become available.
